U.S.-Canada Trade Talks Collapse Last-Minute
A U.S.-Canada trade deal collapsed after Canada declined to finalize terms agreed earlier in the week. U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said new Canadian demands and walk-backs of commitments upended the careful balance reached.
Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney suspended negotiations, blaming last-minute U.S. changes as unfair. The failure leaves Canada facing 50 percent tariffs on $20 billion in products, which Greer called a missed opportunity.

Justice Department to Deploy 1,000 Election Monitors
In a blow to Democrats’ midterm election hopes, the Trump administration announced that the Department of Justice will deploy a record 1,000 election monitors nationwide for the November midterms.
Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon said the force will ensure compliance with the Voting Rights Act. This nearly quadruples the number used in 2022 and exceeds the 714 monitors sent in 2024.
The move aims to bolster election security after the SAVE America Act stalled in the Senate, caused largely by RINO senators who sided with Democrats.
California Enacts “Stop Nick Shirley Act”
California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed Assembly Bill 2624, dubbed the “Stop Nick Shirley Act,” into law.
The draconian measure restricts publishing information about certain nonprofits and bans recording or photographing their employees and volunteers. It targets citizen journalist Nick Shirley’s investigations that exposed widespread fraud schemes in California and Minnesota.
Critics warn the law risks chilling investigative journalism and protects fraudsters over taxpayers.
Tim Scott Predicts GOP Senate Majority
Sen. Tim Scott expressed strong confidence that Republicans will retain the Senate majority after the November midterms. He attributed the outlook to Democrats fielding radical and out-of-step candidates in key races.
Scott highlighted Texas Democrat James Talarico’s non-binary view of God and Michigan’s Abdul El-Sayed, a “Democratic Socialist,” as examples. He also praised strong GOP contenders like Ashley Hinson in Iowa against tax-hiking opponents.
