This Goodreads Summary Sums Up Leftist Journalists and Democrat Politicians

The Vietnam War history book Ride the Thunder by Richard Botkin, retired United States Marine Corps servicemember, has been out since July 2, 2009. It tells the side of the story that leftist journalists in America do not want you to know. That is, the side of the brave South Vietnamese soldiers and their equally brave American allies.

Surprisingly, a very informative description of this book can be found on Goodreads.

In his book, Botkin discusses the entitlement and cowardice of the leftist journalists in Vietnam at the time. Leftist journalists frequently painted themselves as heroes who put themselves in harm’s way on the battlefield to bring “truth” to the public back home.

Well, just like today, the self-portrayal of these journalists being “brave” and “noble” truthtellers are grossly exaggerated at best, and outright fake and fabricated at worst. The first line of the Goodreads synopsis tells us, “Everything Americans know about the end of the Vietnam War is wrong.” As the following will show, leftist reporters are a major reason for America’s misunderstanding of this war.

The excerpts of interest are as follows:

“Reporters would fly into the combat base just long enough to film Marines being shelled and ducking for cover before flying out again to safe areas. Focusing only on dying US soldiers, the American media refused to cover the atrocities committed by the Communists against their own people.”

The next part of the excerpt sums up why leftist journalists and Democrat politicians have always been enemies of democracy, even back in the Vietnam days:

“Despite the horrors and the fact that the South Vietnamese were fighting desperately for their fledgling democracy the 93rd Congress pulled the plug on all US support and funding. Even though the American troops were winning on the ground, it was the media and politicians, not warriors, who decided the outcome of the war.”

After decades of undeserved public trust, the mainstream media has finally lost credibility in the eyes of the public.
